Chipotle + Natural Food = Unnatural Music
Chipotle’s chain of restaurants may be best known for their large burritos, assembly line production, and use of natural ingredients, but that’s about to change.
The company commissioned a stop-motion commercial with Willie Nelson’s rendition of Coldplay’s “The Scientist.” I believe the ad works because of the awesome stop-motion photography and the story it tells, not because of Willie Nelson’s rendition of “The Scientist.” I think Nelson’s performance falls flat and he just can’t carry those high notes.
Hat’s off to Chipotle for taking someone like Willie Nelson and having them go completely outside of their genre. I think it’s pure genius and you have to respect a company willing to take chances.
But wait! Chipotle wasn’t about to stop with just one commercial. No they had to up the ante and up the ante they did.
Karen O, frontwoman for the indie rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs was commissioned to perform a song that Willie Nelson made famous “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys.” I know ““ you’ve got to be kidding, right? It works, or should I say it rocks.
Karen O does a fabulous job and shows the world of Chipotle lovers why she’s a big contender in the music world. Check out the video and see/hear for yourself.
So get yourself out there to a Chipotle near you and enjoy an all natural burrito while listening to some unnatural music. I know there’s one in downtown Sacramento and in the Bay Area.
