1 dead in Natomas shooting
Sacramento police reports that around 1:05 a.m. Sunday officers responded to the Harbor Oaks Apartment complex at 2227 River Plaza Drive in Sacramento’s Natomas area, after receiving reports of shots fired.
When police arrived they discovered a black male adult in his 20′s inside an apartment. The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and Sacramento Fire Department personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
UPDATE: The coroners office on Monday released the name of the victim as 25-year-old Roland Duncan Bell of Fairfield.
A second victim described as an Hispanic male in his 30′s, was also shot inside the apartment and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A third victim was later identified when she checked herself into a local hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Investigators determined that there was a large party inside the apartment where the victims were discovered. A large number of people were seen fleeing the area on foot, and in vehicles after the initial shooting.
There have been no arrests and detectives are still trying to piece together events leading up to the fatal shooting.
Investigators believe some of the party goers fleeing the scene may have witnessed the fatal shooting, and are urging them to contact them immediately.
