Suspect in last weeks failed CVS robbery arrested

The suspect in a failed robbery attempt last week has been arrested and booked into Sacramento County jail after being released from the hospital.

Last Tuesday 36-year-old Zecharia Scholes attempted to rob a CVS pharmacy on Marconi Avenue in Carmichael, when officers arrived.

Deputies found Scholes in the pharmacy area holding a gun with an employee a few feet away. After the suspect refused to drop the gun, deputies, fearing for the employees safety, shot Scholes in the upper body.

Scholes was transported to a local hospital for treatment, and was placed under arrest as soon as he was released.

No employees were injured.

It was later determined that the handgun in Scholes possession was a toy.

Zecharia was arrested on kidnapping and robbery charges. His bail is set at $150,000. Protection Status
