Man arrested for murder of 3 people found in burning car

Sacramento NewsCHICO, CA – A man has been arrested for the murder of three people found in the charred remains of an abandoned car in Butte County last Thursday.

According to the Butte County Sheriff’s Department, detectives apprehended 72-year-old Donald Clark early Wednesday morning in the 14000 block of Centerville Road in Chico. He was charged with three counts of murder and booked into the Butte County Jail, with bail set at over $3 million.

Autopsies on the remains of the three victims revealed gunshot wounds. The identities of the individuals will not be released until the coroner’s office can confirm their identities, but they are believed to be from the Sacramento area.

Sheriff’s deputies along with California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection crews responded to a call last Thursday on Skyway Road near Hupp-Coutelenc Road after residents heard an explosion.

Officials found a green 2000 Acura TL totally engulfed in flames and after extinguishing the fire, CalFire personnel found the human remains inside the vehicle. The vehicle was reported stolen from the Sacramento area.
