Driver who died in wrong-way I5 collision identified

Police-lightsSACRAMENTO, CA – The Sacramento County Coroner’s office has identified the man killed in Thursday’s deadly collision on Interstate 5, which was caused by a wrong-way driver.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the wrong-way vehicle, whose name has not been released, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 approaching Del Paso Road at around 1:30 a.m., when his Volkswagen Jetta struck two vehicles.

The wrong-way vehicle collided with two cars a Sport Utility Vehicle and a Toyota Corolla. The driver of the Corolla, 23-year-old Sacramento resident Sanching Saetern, died at the scene. A family of five in the SUV received minor injuries.

The wrong-way driver received moderate injuries. Protection Status
