Woman killed in Land Park car accident identified

Police-lightsSACRAMENTO, CA – The passenger killed in Monday’s vehicle accident in the Land Park area has been identified.

The Sacramento Police Department responded to a call just after 2 a.m. Monday after a car lost control in the area of Riverside Blvd and 43rd Avenue.

The woman who died in the accident has been identified as 28-year-old Emily Catherine Drury from Sacramento.

According to Sacramento Police, Drury was riding in the backseat of the car at the time of the accident. The driver of the vehicle, an unidentified 25-year-old woman, lost control heading southbound on Riverside Blvd approaching 43rd Avenue causing the vehicle to hit a tree. The driver suffered life-threatening injuries, and an unidentified 24-year-old male passenger was in stable condition, both were transported to UC Davis Medical Center.

The vehicle caught fire after colliding with the tree and the Sacramento Fire Department quickly extinquished the fire.

Drury was declared dead at the scene by first responders.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
