Woman’s body found in Antelope storage unit
ANTELOPE, CA – A man waved down Sacramento Police officers on Monday informing them of a woman’s body located in a storage facility. The man was ultimately arrested for murder.
Just before 9:30 p.m. Monday, the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department received a call from the Sacramento Police Department. Sacramento Police officers had been waved down by a man in the Natomas area, telling officers that a woman’s body could be found inside Load-N-Lock Storage on Blackfoot Way in Antelope. The man was later identified as 38-year-old Thomas Bennett.
Officers were not certain if the man was referring to a dead woman, or if she was still alive, so police responded to the area and notified the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department, who has jurisdiction over the area.
Deputies and officers arrived at the scene and located the unit Bennett had described to officers. Deputies and officers discovered a dead woman in her twenties inside the storage unit.
The victim’s cause of death could not immediately be determined. The identity of the victim will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, after notification has been made to her next of kin.
Bennett was arrested and booked into Sacramento County Jail without bail.
The motive and relationship between the victim and Bennett is currently under investigation.
