Fairfield traffic stops lead to 5 arrests

Police-lightsFAIRFIELD, CA – On Friday two separate traffic stops in Fairfield led to five arrests on charges of possession of drugs and firearms.

According to the Fairfield Police Department, at approximately 4:45 p.m. officers made a traffic stop at Gale Wilson Blvd. and Dana Drive.

The officers recognized the occupants in the vehicle as known gang members who had prior arrests on weapons charges.

Officers searched their vehicle and discovered a concealed handgun that was loaded and a controlled substance on one of the suspects. The firearm was determined to be stolen from a residential burglary earlier in the week.

Police arrested 20-year-old Jovonte Goodwin, of Vallejo, for possession of a concealed and loaded firearm, possession of stolen property and for violation of his probation.

Eighteen-year-old Ben Sapp, of Fairfield, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and committing a felony while out on bail.

A second, unrelated, traffic stop occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the area of Gershwin Circle and Strauss Drive.

Two of the three occupants were arrested for outstanding warrants. Twenty-five-year-old James Marion and 25-year-old Stanley Marion, both of Suisun City, were arrested due to outstanding warrants.

The third occupant, 29-year-old Jeremy Fallness, of Reno, was taken into custody for possession of a loaded and concealed handgun.
