Motorcyclist killed in Elk Grove identified
ELK GROVE, CA – A motorcyclist was killed Friday morning when a vehicle turned in front of the rider in Elk Grove.
According to the Elk Grove Police Department emergency personnel responded to the 8200 block of Laguna Boulevard just before 8 a.m. regarding a collision involving a motorcycle.
Medical personnel arrived and determine that the motorcyclist, later identified as Citrus Heights resident 52-year-old Dean Lara, had died at the scene.
According to police the driver of a minivan was making a left turn from a designated turn lane on Laguna Boulevard and collided with Lara, who was traveling westbound on Laguna Blvd. Lara was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries.
The driver of the minivan was not injured and cooperated with officers at the scene. The collision is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.

According to Lara’s Facebook page he was an avid motorcyclist and just recently returned from a trip to Idaho. Earlier this year Lara attended a motorcycle rally in Hollister, Calif.
