Rocklin Police in stand-off with armed man

Sacramento NewsROCKLIN, CA – The Rocklin Police Department is currently dealing with an armed man barricaded in a home in the area of Piute Street.

At approximately 4:15 Wednesday afternoon the Rocklin Police Department received a 911 call about a domestic violence incident involving a man with a gun at a residence in the 1700 block of Piute Street (cross of Clipper Court).

It’s believed a male with a gun, barricaded himself inside the residence while a female fled the scene on-foot to a neighbor’s house and is safe. It is believed no one else is inside the residence with the man.

Police units have surrounded the home and established a perimeter. A neighborhood evacuation is being encouraged voluntarily in the immediate vicinity.

SWAT and hostage negotiators are on-scene attempting to make contact with the male subject.

UPDATE 7:37 p.m.: Officers have sent a robot into the house looking for the suspect. The robot has spotted the suspect and he is sitting on the floor with the gun next to him. It appears the man may have killed himself.

UPDATE 7:40: Police are sending in a medical team at this time.

UPDATE 7:41: The man who barricaded himself inside the home is deceased. Medical is entering the home to confirm. The man is being described to be in his 60′s. A gun was located next to the body.

Citizens and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area if at all possible. Expect traffic delays and police vehicles in the area of Wildcat Blvd. and Iroquois Road.
