Star of ‘Prison Break’: I’m gay
The star of “Prison Break,” Wentworth Miller has revealed he’s a gay man and has told Russia he’s not interested in attending their St. Petersburg International Film Festival.
In a letter to the director of the International Film Festival, the 41-year-old actor rejected their invitation for him to travel to the Motherland for the festival. In the letter Miller admitted his sexuality for the first time publicly.
“Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes. However, as a gay man, I must decline.”
Miller goes on to explain, “I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.”
Miller is best known for his role as Michael Scofield in the FOX Network TV series ‘Prison Break.” He recently made his screenwriting debut with the 2013 horror film ‘Stoker.’
