Two more arrests in Stockton murder

STOCKTON, CA – Stockton police have arrested two more people in connection to the shooting death of a 24-year-old man earlier this month.

In the early morning hours of September 2, officers were called out to a residence in the 1600 block of Julian Street after receiving reports of shots fired. When Officers arrived, they discovered 24-year-old Angel Mendez-Lopez who had been shot and killed by one of the suspects, in what was an apparent home invasion robbery.

On September 3, homicide detectives arrested the victim’s brother, Stephen Rodriguez in Manteca for his involvement in the home invasion.

After further investigation, detectives were able to identify two additional suspects, 29-year-old Herbis Sauceda and 27-year-old Matthew Ornelas.

Both men were arrested on September 10. Sauceda was arrested in Apple Valley with the assistance of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and Ornelas was arrested in Stockton.
