Body discovered in Clover Fire
IGO, CA – A man’s body has been discovered inside the perimeter of the Clover fire in Shasta County.
According to Cal Fire, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Department discovered the body of 56-year-old Brian Stanley Henry while checking a home in the small community of Igo.
The fast moving Clover fire broke out on Monday afternoon in Happy Valley, destroying 30 homes and forcing the evacuation of 300 others. Because of winds in the area, it is estimated the fire was consuming close to 500 acres per hour.
Residents were notified minutes before they were required to evacuate the area due to the fast moving flames. The fire was jumping roads and igniting homes as residents were scrambling to leave.
According to Cal Fire the blaze has consumed close to 11 square miles.
On Wednesday, cooler temperatures, higher humidity and no wind has help firefighters bring the containment of the fire to 40 percent.
Evacuation orders remain in place for the 300 homes, but officials are optimistic that they will be able to lift the order sometime Thursday morning.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
