Cyclist killed in South Sacramento identified
SACRAMENTO, CA – The cyclist killed on Monday morning along Stockton Blvd has been identified as 59-year-old James Glendon Combis of Sacramento.
Combis was struck and killed after he unexpectedly turned into traffic on Monday morning along Stockton Blvd near Quinta Court.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Combis was riding his bike on Stockton Blvd at around 6:30 a.m. Monday, when a Chevrolet Tahoe hit him after he veered into traffic.
The driver of the SUV attempted to stop, but could not avoid a collision. Combis was thrown from his bike and landed in the street, suffering major injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.
Combis was rushed to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
