Victim of hit and run left on side of road for hours

Police-lightsELK GROVE, CA – A woman was found dead after being hit by a vehicle in Elk Grove early Tuesday morning.

According to the Elk Grove Police Department, officers were called out to the area of E. Stockton Blvd just after 2 a.m. Tuesday, after receiving calls about a female that had been sitting on the curb for several hours.

When officers arrived, they discovered an unresponsive 62-year-old female lying in the northbound lane of traffic on E. Stockton Blvd. Officers and medical personnel were unable to revive the woman who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe that the woman was struck and run over by a vehicle that was traveling northbound on E. Stockton Boulevard. The vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene. At this point, investigators do not have a description of the vehicle involved or the driver.
