Man identified in Saturdays deadly crash

Police-lightsSACRAMENTO, CA – A man was killed Saturday after losing control of his vehicle near the Tower Bridge in Sacramento.

According to the West Sacramento Police Department, the driver of a minivan lost control of his vehicle as he was driving eastbound on Tower Bridge Gateway toward the 5th Street intersection at around 10:50 a.m. on Saturday.

The driver was later identified as 63-year-old Gregory Allen Armitage of Fair Oaks.

Armitage lost control of the minivan as he was headed around a slight curve in the roadway. His vehicle veered off the road and collided with a pillar from an overpass. He was rushed to UC Davis Medical Center after being extricated from the vehicle by the West Sacramento Fire Department, where he later died.

Armitage was the only occupant and no other vehicles were involved in the incident. The cause is still under investigation. Protection Status
