Auto Parts clerk killed in North Highlands
NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA – An O’Reilly Auto Parts employee was shot and killed Thursday night after a confrontation with a robber.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, a man entered the O’Reilly Auto Parts store located on 4423 Elkhorn Blvd in North Highlands at around 7:15 p.m. and ordered three employees onto the ground.
One of the employees, who appeared to be in his 20′s, refused to comply and grabbed a knife from behind the counter and stabbed the robber. The robber shot the employee and fled the scene.
The employee was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Deputies immediately set up a perimeter searching for the gunmen and a helicopter was called to the scene along with K9 officers. The helicopter was circling the area calling out the suspect’s description.
The suspect is described as a black male, 18 to 25 years old, 5’6″ to 5’8″ tall with a skinny build. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap and hoodie and may have had something covering his face.
No other employees were injured during the robbery.
