Arrest made in O’Reilly Auto Parts murder
NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA – The man suspected of killing an O’Reilly Auto Parts employee Thursday night has been arrested.
According to the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department, 26-year-old Michael Eugene Addson has been booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for the murder of a 22-year old employee of the O’Reilly Auto Parts store located at 4423 Elkhorn Blvd in North Highlands.
Addson entered the auto parts store at around 7:15 p.m. Thursday and ordered three employees onto the ground. A 22-year-old employee refused to comply with the would-be robber, and grabbed a knife from behind the counter, stabbing Addson. During the struggle Addson shot the employee and fled the scene.
The employee was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A short time later, Sacramento Sheriff Homicide Detectives were alerted by a local hospital that Addson was seeking medical attention for a stab wound. Detectives were able to determine by evidence collected at the scene that he was the person responsible for the homicide.
The victim’s name will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office upon notification of next of kin.
