SACRAMENTO, CA – Sacramento County Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives have identified the man responsible for the murder of 46-year-old Hassan Alawsi at the Home Depot store located in the 4600 block of Florin Road on March 16.

Detectives have identified 44-year-old Jeffrey Michael Caylor as the shooting suspect in an arrest warrant affidavit filed yesterday with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.

Caylor is currently in custody at an outside county jail facility on unrelated charges and will face a charge of murder for this incident upon his extradition to Sacramento County Jail.

Detectives believe Caylor’s motive for shooting and killing Hassan Alawsi was racially motivated and are seeking anyone who may have been victimized by similar acts of racially biased violence by Caylor to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115.

On Sunday March 16, the Sheriff’s Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a man had been shot at the Home Depot parking lot.

When Deputies arrived they discovered Alawsi, with a fatal gunshot wound. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

According to witnesses a vehicle drove up to Alawsi in the parking lot and fired at least one shot at him, and then fled the scene.
