SACRAMENTO, CA – The man who was shot at the Carmel Point apartment complex early Monday morning has been identified.
According to the Coroner’s website, the victim was 23-year-old Alphonse Tholmer.
Sacramento Police responded to the apartment complex located in the 7800 block of Center Parkway at around 3:40 a.m. Monday and found Tholmer outside of an apartment with multiple gunshot wounds.
According to the occupants of one of the apartments Tholmer allegedly tried to break into their apartment when he accidentally shot himself multiple times.
Tholmer was rushed to a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds where he was pronounced dead.
According to a statement released today by the Sacramento Police Department, it appears an unknown number of subjects forced their way into an apartment resulting in the shooting. Tholmer did not live at the apartment where the break-in occurred.
The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
