FAIRFIELD, CA – A father has been arrested today for biting off his 1 month old son’s nose after he couldn’t stop the infant from crying.
According to Fairfield Police, 18-year-old Joshua Cooper was so frustrated with his baby son’s crying that he bit off part of his son’s nose.
Police responded just after 8 a.m. Thursday to an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Alaska Avenue when the mother called to report her baby was bleeding from the nose.
Officers arrived and found the infant bleeding from the face. A number of family members were at the apartment at the time, including the 17-year-old mother and Cooper.
The baby was rushed to North Bay Medical Center and then transferred to Oakland Children’s Hospital.
According to reports, one-third of his nose had been severed, and the baby suffered other injuries including a skull fracture and brain hemorrhage in the apparent attack.
The child is currently listed as stable.
Tweeting, the 54-year-old wrote, “Game Changer: Jax Copeland Arnold. 8lbs 12oz. Looking forward to being a 70 year old Little League Coach,”
It appears Arnold remains a fan of the TV show ‘Sons of Anarchy,’ even after his character Georgie Caruso, a porn king, was killed off in season four. Charlie Hunnam’s character’s name is Jax Teller and remains one of the main characters in the hit TV show.
The actor/comedian went on to tweet, “My son wants to watch My Big Redneck Vacation and The After Show right now @CMT…at least I think he does. He’s a man of few words.”
Joking he later tweeted, “Maternity is the only section of the hospital where all the nurses constantly say “congratulations!” Oncology, not so much.”
According to People the couple had been battling fertility issues prior to conceiving their first child.
Arnold, who has been married three times before, told People, “I’ve tried with other people, but since there is a God, we were unable to conceive. Now God said, ‘This is it!’”
Announcing the pregnancy on ‘The View’ Arnold told viewers, “I didn’t think it was in the cards for me, to be honest, and so I was completely shocked. It’s a miracle.”
BRUNSWICK, GA. – The Associated Press is reporting that a 13-month-old baby was fatally shot and killed while his mother tried unsuccessfully to protect him.
Antonio Angel West was shot in the head after two young boys, between the ages of 10 and 15, attempted to rob Sherry West while she was pushing her baby in a stroller down the street in a quiet neighborhood in Brunswick, Georgia.
UPDATE: According to Police Chief Tobe Green, two teenagers have been arrested. De’Marquis Elkins, a 17-year-old, is being charged as an adult with first-degree murder and his partner, a 14-year-old, was not identified since he is a minor.
Police announced the arrest Friday afternoon after combing school records and canvassing neighborhoods searching for the pair. The chief said the motive of the “horrendous act” was still under investigation and the weapon had not been found.
The mother told local television station WAWS-TV that two boys approached her demanding money while she was walking near her home. She told the boys that she had no money. She was holding her baby trying to protect him, when the older boy opened fire, fatally shooting the baby in the head and wounding the mother in the leg.
“I put my arms over my baby and he shoves me, and then he shot my baby right in the head,” West told WAWS-TV.
According to authorities the shooter fired four rounds, grazing West’s ear and striking her in the leg. Then the shooter walked around the stroller and shot the baby in the face.
Police closed down several blocks in the area for a few hours in search of the two suspects, who are described as two young black males between the ages of 10 and 15, the suspected shooter is between 5’7″ and 5’9″ tall with a thin build and curly hair. He was last seen wearing a red, long sleeved shirt.
Today authorities announced they believe the weapon used was a handgun, but no weapon has been found and there have been numerous leads submitted through their silent witness line.
A shocked Mayor Bryan Thompson said in a statement, “This is obviously just a terrible day in the city of Brunswick. It’s made even more terrible by the certainly senseless killing of a young child and it appears perpetrated by children themselves.”
Begging for help the Mayor continued, “I would like to stress and plead with people in this community right now, people are hearing my voice, if you know something about this crime, please call in any information you have. If you are not sharing that information, your finger is on the trigger of that gun just as securely as that finger that was on the trigger by the actual shooter.”
Police are combing through school records to determine who was not in attendance at the time of the shooting. There is a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the two suspects.
Daniel Emanuel Gokey weighed in at 8 pounds, 11 ounces.
Gokey released the following statement:
“Leyicet and I are overjoyed to welcome the new member of our family. I’m ecstatic to be a first time dad and to have a new little buddy to hang out with. Thankfully, because of what I do, it will also allow me the flexibility to spend a lot of quality time with him. I have so many exciting projects ahead this year but a brand new baby is an amazing way to get the new year started. We feel really blessed!”
The 32-year-old Gokey, whose first wife died in 2008 following an operation for congenital heart disease, married Leyicet, a 26-year-old model, in January 2012. Their engagement and marriage were announced on his charity website, Sophia’s Heart.
The site was created in honor of Gokey’s late wife Sophia. As some of you may recall, in Idol season eight, Gokey shared the tragic story of losing his wife to routine heart surgery. Since then he has dedicated himself to raising money for Sophia’s Heart, reaching out to children and helping them through difficult times, at various stages of their lives.
